Our Mission: Georgia Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries is a Christian caring ministry of services designed to promote the spiritual, physical and emotional well-being of children, youth and families.
Every day at Georgia Baptist Children Homes, we handle the most fragile thing on earth: the heart of a child. Every day so many of these hearts are delivered to our doors broken and shattered. Shattered by abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Broken through substance abuse in the home. Crushed as victims of human trafficking. Scarred as a result of domestic violence. Our children and families come to us from unimaginable situations.
Approximately 8,000 children are in Georgia's foster care system. One out of every three children living on the streets will become victims of human trafficking within 48 hours of running away from home. One in 15 children are exposed to domestic violence each year.
Whether overcoming abuse and exploitation, behavioral issues, or learning to cope with a developmental disability –we know that real healing can only begin by allowing God to mend their fragile hearts. Please join us our mission of bringing hope to the fragile lives that have been entrusted to us so that real healing can begin.
Our goal is to minister to each fragile heart that comes our way through these ministries:
Campus Residential Programs: These ministries provide residential care for troubled children, youth, and families. Christ-centered programs on three campuses, located in Baxley, Meansville, and Palmetto, work together to meet the basic physical needs of our children, as well as assist them in personal development and spiritual growth.
Group Home Residential Care: Located in local communities, these group homes have the capacity to serve five to ten children. These homes allow us to serve children in their own community, which helps them adjust to their placement with less disruption during a difficult time. We have group homes located in Carrollton and Newnan.
Maternity Care: One of the unique ministries here at Georgia Baptist Children's Home is our teen maternity program. This residential program gives these young mothers-to-be a safe place to live while recieving medical care, spiritual counseling, parenting classes, continuing education, and most importantly - HOPE.
Specialty Residential Care: This program evaluates the physical, mental, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs of a child and serves children with higher emotional needs, including children who have been victimized on a long-term basis.
Camp Hawkins: Camp Hawkins is a summer residential camp for youth ages 8-21 coping with varying developmental disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder, Learning Disorder, Austism, Brain Injuries and/or other developmental delays.
Good Shepherd Center: Located in Warm Springs, Georgia, this unique farm based residential program for boys provides both short and long-term care and offers an outpatient therapeutic riding program for youth and adults coping with a variety of disabilities.
Foster Care: We are licensed as a Foster Care Child Placement Agency in the state of Georgia and currently operate foster homes in South Metro Atlanta communities.
Adventure Respite Services: Our adventure-based weekend respite program is offered through our Good Shepherd Center. This program is opened to children in residential care, foster care or those who receive in-home services and meet the requirements for respite care. This program provides clients with various fun outdoor activities, which allows the client a break from their daily routine and helps stabilize their current placement.
Family Care Program: This program is designed to assist mothers and their children who have been displaced from their homes due to domestic violence. Our program assists these families with counseling, shelter, food, clothing and assistance in locating employment and education for their children.
Community Counseling Centers: We offer a full range of coordinated mental health and community support services including individual counseling, family counseling, psychiatric services, nursing services and pharmacological services.
