Camp Hawkins/ Matthew's Time

Camp Hawkins is a summer residential camp for youth ages 8-21coping with varying developmental disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorders, Learning disorders, Autism, brain injuries and/or other developmental delays. The camp began in 1995 as an outreach ministry of Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries and has provided assistance to hundreds of children and families throughout Georgia.

Camp Hawkins sessions last for five days and serve up to 20 campers each week.  Staff to camper ratio is one-to-one to insure
that the needs of each camper are met. Registered nurses are on site at all times and staff members are trained and CPR certified.  In addition to camper attention and support, special dietary needs are accommodated as well. Camp Hawkins is located in Mt. Airy, GA. Nestled in the North Georgia mountains; this location provides beautiful scenery with modern conveniences. The camp is completely wheelchair accessible. Facilities include two air-conditioned lodges, gymnasium, dining areas, vesper garden, and pool.

Camp Hawkins currently offers multiple sessions throughout the summer. With recent statistics showing there are more than 4,000 special needs children in Georgia, Camp Hawkins provides an invaluable service to many families across the state.

At Camp Hawkins, campers have the opportunity to swim, canoe, and participate in variety shows, arts and crafts, Bible Study and "Messy Games." All of Camp Hawkins programs can be adapted to different levels suitable, yet challenging, for each camper.
